Artistic creative expression of peace can
be highly effective and rewarding. The experience of any group
all creating a visual interpretation of peace is profound. In
this project a collage “Peace Pie” is made using
imagery and words from magazines as the primary medium. Journal
writing exercises are incorporated focused on the five senses
of Peace - What does Peace look like? What does Peace feel
like? How does Peace smell? How does Peace taste? What is the
sound of Peace? The collaged pie pieces, when put together as a
group, form a mandala, which is Sanskrit for circle, polygon,
community, connection. The Mandala is a symbol of man or woman
in the world, a symbol of the wholeness we are. The center of a
mandala is the essence, the circumference is grasping, thus
grasping the essence. This essence is the heart and the mandala
represents a body of enlightenment. The Peace Pie Mandala
Project embraces and encourages the individual’s
interpretation of peace (grasping the essence), then combines
it with other interpretations, the wholeness we ARE (the
heart), and a unified picture of peace is created (body of
enlightenment). Peace on Earth begins in one’s own heart.
Until we are at peace within, there will not be peace
without. This Peace Project brings the focus of peace to
the individual heart, the place we must start if we truly
desire Peace for ALL.
Blessings on you, ...J*
